Have you ever noticed that of all the American personalities, famous and infamous, that have been spoofed in the media, President Abraham Lincoln has been abused probably more than any other? Â Have you ever wondered why? Â
Lincoln was the President during arguably the most turbulent time in the history of this country. Â And he managed to both hold the Union together and end slavery, eventually making the supreme sacrifice for his efforts. Â You would think that he would be held as highly in esteem as Ghandi or the Dhali Lama. Â
Yet, no other President has been more abused and belittled in the media. Â
Even the notorious villain and mass murderer, Adolf Hitler, enjoys more respect than Lincoln. Â
Why does this happen, and why do we stand for it?
